Tobruk - Senior Level Designer

During Tobruk, my career had started advancing further, and I took on a supporting role as Senior Level Designer, rather than solely being responsible as a map owner. My responsibilities included:

- Ensuring my map owner had a backlog of tasks in JIRA and was supported in their career development
- Ensuring the map was on track to hit our milestone deliverables in terms of quality and progression
- Reviewing and giving feedback on layouts/signing off tasks
- Ensuring cross-discipline collaboration was maintained with other discipline map leads
- Help organising and sometimes running studio playtests

I managed to have the opportunity to block out some of the Capture Points and transitional areas in the map:

In the polishing phase of Tobruk, I had the opportunity to do some environmental set dressing, this aided in generating ideas for the art team in what to expect in some parts of the map in terms of military storytelling. This mostly included:

- Set dressing tents with medical equipment
- Military supplies
- Streets lined with barricades and sandbags which are used for cover, and reinforcing buildings

Key Learnings

This map had some firsts for me:
- First time delegating tasks to a level design map lead
- First time creating a desert themed map for a multiplayer FPS
- First time set dressing with final art ready assets
