Smolensk - Lead Level Designer

For Smolensk I took on a supporting role as Lead Level Designer, responsible for:
- Ensuring my map owner had a backlog of tasks in JIRA and supporting their career development
- Ensuring the map was on track to hit our milestone deliverables in terms of quality and progression
- Reviewing and giving feedback on layouts/signing off tasks
- Ensuring cross-discipline collaboration was maintained with other discipline map leads
- Help organising and sometimes running studio playtests

During early development for Smolensk, I had the opportunity to block out a couple of Capture Points and iterate on the map:

Key Learnings:

- First time blocking out parts of a city map
- Learning history about the Eastern Front of WW2 and how that biome looks/feels completely different to the typical well documented fronts
- Learning to put the trust and responsibility into a member of my team to deliver a quality map with minimal oversight
- Being transparent about the status of the map with other discipline leads and making the choice to descope and simplify small areas of the map where needed to ensure that the overall quality wasn't impacted
